Cold weather can be hard on the skin. It leads to dry and flaky skin. Here are some tips and tricks to help you survive the last bit of winter.
1. Most everyone should moisturize their face but don't forget about SPF! You may not think the sun is out in the cold but it sure is, so don't forget SPF to avoid damaging rays.
2. Although we all want to hop into a steaming hot shower after a long day, too much can dry your skin and we don't want that! ;)
3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink tons of water to keep your skin baby smooth!
4. Check your moisturizer! Oil-based moisturizers provide vitamin C and E which will keep your skin moist for longer periods of time rather than a water-based moisturizer.
5. Using natural products like honey, aloe, and coconut oil can help soften your skin. Au naturel! :)
6. To scrub away that dead, dry skin exfoliate! Use a purchased exfoliating scrub or here is a recipe for a DIY scrub:
You just need...
-1 tbsp olive oil
-1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 lemon
-1/2 cup of granulated sugar
First, mix the oil, lemon juice, and honey together until they are well mixed. Next, add the sugar and voila your face will be soft and smell good!
7. Wearing gloves in the frigid weather will keep hands from being dried out and cracking.
8. XOXO! Hydrate your lips by wearing a lip balm (preferably with SPF). Some of my faves are Nivea Lip Butter in Macadamia Kiss, EOS (all flavors), and Baby Lips Doctor Rescue!
9. If you have especially dry skin, you can purchase a humidifier. This is not necessary but it does help by adding moisture to the air.
10. Keep in simple when it comes to extra acne or skin treatments. Many of this products can be very drying especially in the winter!
I hope these tips helped you in learning how to take care of your dry winter skin and turn it back into a flawless smooth face!
